Charge over Sydney restaurant stool attack

A middle-aged man has been accused of using a piece of McDonald's furniture to strike a customer in Circular Quay in Sydney.

Police say a 24-year-old man suffered a five-centimetre cut, a swollen eye and bruising to the left side of his face after being hit with a stool at the popular McDonald's Circular Quay about 3am on Saturday.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he is in a stable condition.

A 49-year-old man was arrested at the scene and later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was released on bail ahead of a scheduled appearance at Downing Centre Local Court on December 19.
