Where it makes more sense to rent than buy - MarketWatch

This article does't really say anything. There are several useful formula's but the one that comes to mind, is to never spend more than 15 years rent to buy. So, for example, if your rent is $3,000/month, you shouldn't be buying anything over $540k. That tells me instantly, that almost the entire west coast is 'rent me' not buy, even if you have the bucks.
