British premium two-wheeler brand Triumph Motorcycles has been working on the EV space with the Project Triumph TE-1. While there is still some time before we even sight a prototype going around, Triumph has launched their first ever electric offering and its called the Trekker GT. This e-bike has been priced at £2,950 that amounts to Rs 2.82 lakh, excluding the import duty and taxes. On the production-spec Trekker GT, the handlebar logo positioning will be set on the opposite side of the bars for the production bike, and with the cable routing, which is not as the final production set-up, will be routed into the frame with cleaner packaging. The e-bike gets a hydro-formed aluminium frame with integrated lockable battery with Selle Royal Vivo saddle, 27.5-inch Alex Volar rims running on Schwalbe Energizer Green Guard tyres. Powering the Trekker GT is a Shimano Steps E6100 250w motor mated with a Shimano E8035 504Wh battery. Triumph claims that a day long charge can make the Trekker GT offer a riding range of 150km. The weight of the electric drivetrain that includes the motor and the battery is a combined 2.88kg, while the overall weight of the e-bike is 24kg. Braking duties are being taken care of by Shimano Deore M6000 180/160 brake. Further, the e-bike comes with Deore Shadow 10-speed rear mechanism, RockShox Paragon forks with 65mm travel with turnkey lockout damper. In terms of equipment, the Trekker GT features integrated LED lighting, matt-black mudguards, blacked-out pannier rack, side stand and ABUS pro-shield integrated lock. It also gets a Shimano display that offers information on range, battery power, speed, gear and trip time.The accessory list consists of a 270mm U-lock and chain and ground anchor and Muc-off/Triumph cleaning kit. Triumph mentions, "the elegant frame combined with the narrow-width handlebars and the ultra-comfort of the Selle Royal Vivo saddle, provides the rider with optimal ergonomics and great rider control". Similar to its motorcycles, the Triumph Trekker GT features twin paint scheme of Matt Silver Ice and Matt Jet Black. It gets blackened wheels, pedals, seat post, handlebar stem and a cast aluminium Triumph badge. Presently, the Trekker GT will be available in the UK, United States and in Europe with the exception of Germany and Austria. The company is contemplating on making the Trekker GT available for Asia Pacific markets. Interestingly, Triumph started as a bicycle manufacturer in 1884 in Coventry, and the Trekker GT is the first electric powered bicycle in the company's 118-year history.
